Core Version Questions
What can I do with Holographic Training LMS Core?Core gives you the main LMS foundation inside WordPress. You can create courses, modules and lessons, register learners, let learners log in from the front end, manually enrol learners, add basic lesson quizzes, track progress, and create the required shortcode pages for the main learner journey.
What are the limits on the Core version?Core is designed for basic course delivery rather than professional training operations. It does not include built-in payments, coupons, invoices, certificates, protected downloads, advanced quiz enforcement, module assessments, final exams, tutor marking, learner evidence portfolios, CPD records, live sessions, advanced reporting, or corporate management tools.
Can I build a real course with Core?Yes. Core can be used to build real courses with modules, lessons, learner access and basic quizzes. It is suitable for simple training sites, free courses, internal resources, early course development and testing the LMS structure before adding Pro.
Can learners use Core without WordPress admin access?Yes. Learners use front-end learner accounts. They can register, log in, reset passwords and access their learner dashboard without using the WordPress admin dashboard.
Can I manually give learners access to courses?Yes. Manual learner access is included in Core. This is useful for free training, internal staff training, private courses, client onboarding, or cases where you want an administrator to assign access.
Can I use quizzes in Core?Yes. Core includes basic lesson quizzes for simple knowledge checks. If you need quiz enforcement, time limits, attempt controls, question import/export, assessment blueprinting, final exams, or tutor marking, those are Pro features.
Can I sell courses with Core? No. Core does not include built-in paid course access. If you want checkout, basket, orders, invoices, tax control, coupons, bundles, Stripe or PayPal support, you need Pro.
Can I issue certificates with Core? No. Certificates, certificate templates, certificate verification, QR verification, status history, fraud protection enhancements and physical certificate handling are Pro features.
Can I start with Core and upgrade later?Yes. Core is the foundation. You can build courses and learner structure first, then add Pro later when you need payments, certificates, assessments, evidence, automation or professional training tools. Corporate can be added after Core and Pro if you need company and staff management features.
Pro Version Questions

It includes the Pro course builder, page-builder workflow, protected downloads, advanced quiz tools, quiz import/export, quiz enforcement, module assessments, final exams, tutor accounts, tutor marking, learner evidence portfolios, practical activity submissions, CPD hours, downloadable achievement records, learner progress timelines, certificates, certificate verification, paid access, checkout, invoices, email automation, live sessions, reporting, imports, exports, risk alerts and support tools.
Who is Pro for?Pro is for course creators, tutors, consultants, training providers and businesses that need a serious training platform rather than a simple course structure. It is the right option if you want to sell courses, issue certificates, manage assessments, collect learner evidence, track CPD, run live sessions, send learner notifications, and manage training records more professionally.
Does Pro work on its own?No. Pro extends Core. You must install and activate Holographic Training LMS Core first, then install and activate Pro.
What does Pro add for course building?Pro adds a stronger course builder workflow and page-builder-friendly course delivery tools. This helps you build more polished course, module and lesson pages while keeping the LMS records, progress tracking, quizzes, assessments and access rules connected.
Can Pro protect training files and lesson videos?Yes. Pro includes protected downloads and protected lesson video support. This helps keep course files, worksheets, learning resources and training video material away from public access.
What does Pro add for quizzes and assessments?Pro adds advanced quiz settings, quiz import/export, quiz enforcement, time limits, attempt controls, questions per attempt, module assessments, written answers, final exams, assessment blueprinting and question pool analytics.
Can Pro handle tutor-marked work?Yes. Pro includes tutor accounts, tutor marking, written-answer review, tutor feedback, tutor marking SLA tracking, and learner notes or intervention logs. This is useful when training needs real judgement rather than automatic multiple-choice marking only.
What is the learner evidence portfolio? The learner evidence portfolio gives learners a structured place to see and manage submitted activities, uploaded documents, assessment evidence, tutor feedback, certificates and completion records. It is useful for practical training, compliance evidence and courses where learners must show work.
What is the practical activity submission area? The practical activity submission area gives learners a cleaner front-end place to upload evidence, replace files, add notes, and see whether their work is pending, accepted, rejected or needs changes.
Can Pro track CPD hours or learning credits?Yes. Pro can record CPD hours and learning credits against courses or modules. Learners can use the downloadable achievement record to show completed training, CPD hours, dates, certificates, assessment outcomes and evidence status.
Can Pro issue and verify certificates?Yes. Pro includes certificates, certificate templates, certificate verification, QR verification, valid/revoked/expired/invalid status handling, certificate status history and physical certificate support.
Can Pro sell courses?Yes. Pro includes paid course access, checkout, basket, orders, invoices, tax control, coupons, course and module bundles, and Stripe and PayPal payment support.
Can Pro send learner notifications and emails?Yes. Pro includes email automation and learner notifications for important training events such as enrolment, failed attempts, tutor feedback, evidence rejected, certificate issued, course expiry and retraining reminders.
Can Pro support live or blended training?Yes. Pro includes live session and attendance tracking. This is useful for blended courses where online lessons are combined with webinars, classroom dates, workshops or other scheduled sessions.
Can Pro help improve course quality?Yes. Pro includes course reviews and ratings, course feedback support, question pool analytics, assessment blueprinting, learner progress timelines, risk alerts and reporting tools. These help identify weak questions, failed assessments, overdue marking, learner issues and course quality problems.
Can Pro import data?Yes. Pro includes bulk import and update tools, plus advanced importer templates for quiz imports, assessment imports, learner imports and course structure imports. Always validate imports first and test with a small file before processing larger data sets.
Corporate Version Questions
What does Holographic Training LMS Corporate add?Corporate adds the company and staff management layer. It includes corporate accounts, client-branded portals, learner groups, departments, teams, roles, manager permissions, corporate seats, staff replacement tools, assignment rules, training needs analysis, staff competency matrix, regulated document acknowledgement, practical skills sign-off, external assessor access, training risk dashboards, corporate scheduled reports, corporate audit exports, corporate reporting and corporate exports.
Who is Corporate for?Corporate is for organisations that need to manage training across companies, departments, staff groups, client accounts, assessors, managers or larger learner teams. It is useful for business-to-business training, staff training, compliance training, client training, managed learning programmes and audit-heavy training environments.
Does Corporate work by itself? No. Corporate requires Core and Pro. Install Core first, then Pro, then Corporate.
What are corporate accounts?Corporate accounts let you create separate managed training records for companies, clients, departments, branches or other groups. Each account can have its own learners, seats, managers, courses, training records and reporting scope.
What are client-branded training portals?Client-branded training portals let each corporate client have a more tailored training area with their own logo, colours, welcome text, assigned courses and manager dashboard access. This is useful when delivering training to external clients or separate internal departments.
How do learner groups, departments and roles work?Corporate lets you organise learners in a structure such as Company, Department, Team and Learner. Roles can be used to connect learners to required training, reporting, manager permissions and training needs analysis.
Can corporate managers use the front end?Yes. Corporate manager tools are designed for front-end use, so managers can see the staff and records they are allowed to manage without needing WordPress admin access.
Can different managers have different access?Yes. Corporate manager permissions can limit what each manager can see and do. A company manager can see wider records, while a department or team manager can be restricted to their own area.
What are corporate seats?Corporate seats are active learner places under a corporate account. Seats help manage how many learners a company or client can assign to training.
What happens when a staff member leaves?Corporate includes seat reset and staff replacement tools. A manager can remove a staff member from an active seat and assign that seat to a replacement while keeping historical records for the original learner.
Can Corporate enrol learners automatically?Yes. Assignment and enrolment rules can automatically enrol learners based on company, department, role, team or required training profile. This reduces manual administration and helps ensure the right people receive the right training.
What is Training Needs Analysis?Training Needs Analysis lets you define required skills or courses for each role, then show what each person, team or department is missing. It helps managers understand training gaps and plan follow-up training.
What is the Staff Competency Matrix? The Staff Competency Matrix gives managers a clearer view of staff training status across completion records, missing training, expired training, failed assessments, certificate status and evidence gaps.
What is Regulated Document Acknowledgement?Regulated Document Acknowledgement lets you upload policies, procedures, handbooks, safety documents or other controlled documents and require staff to confirm that they have read and understood them. The system tracks the document version, acknowledgement date and user.
What is the Training Risk Dashboard? The Training Risk Dashboard highlights corporate risk indicators such as expired certificates, missing training, departments below target, repeated assessment failures, overdue evidence and incomplete requirements.
What is Corporate Audit Export?Corporate Audit Export lets you export a complete evidence pack for a company, department, role, learner or date range. It is useful for audits, client reviews, compliance checks, management reporting and evidence requests.
Choosing The Right Version
Which version should I start with?Start with Core if you need a basic LMS foundation. Choose Pro if you need professional training delivery, payments, certificates, protected content, assessments, evidence, automation or reporting. Choose Corporate if you need company accounts, seats, managers, departments, compliance evidence, risk dashboards or corporate exports.
I want to sell courses. Which version do I need? You need Pro. Pro adds paid course access, checkout, basket, orders, invoices, tax control, coupons, bundles, Stripe and PayPal support.
I want to run staff training for one business. Which version do I need?Core may be enough for simple free staff training. Pro is better if you need certificates, evidence, assessments, expiry reminders, notifications or reports. Corporate is the better choice if you need departments, roles, managers, seats, document acknowledgements, training needs analysis or audit exports.
I train other companies. Which version do I need?Corporate is usually the best fit. It lets you create separate corporate accounts, branded portals, managers, seats, assignment rules, reports and audit exports for client organisations.
I only need simple courses and quizzes. Do I need Pro?Not necessarily. Core is suitable for simple course delivery and basic quizzes. Pro is for stronger assessment, payments, certificates, evidence, automation and professional training workflows.
I need certificates but not payments. Which version do I need? You still need Pro. Certificates, certificate templates, certificate verification and QR verification are Pro features, even if your courses are free.
I need managers to see staff progress. Which version do I need?Use Corporate if managers need scoped access to staff records, departments, teams, seats, training risk, compliance status or corporate reports.
Setup And Installation
What should I install first?Install and activate Holographic Training LMS Core first. If you are using Pro, install and activate Pro after Core. If you are using Corporate, install Core first, then Pro, then Corporate.
What should I do after installing Core?Open the Core setup screen, create or confirm the required pages, save WordPress permalinks, then create a small test course with one module, one lesson and one learner.
What should I do after installing Pro?Open the Pro setup screen and check both Core Pages and Pro Pages. Pro should reuse the existing Core pages and only create missing Pro-specific pages. Then activate your Pro licence and test the Pro workflows you plan to use.
What should I do after installing Corporate?Open the Corporate setup screen and check Core Pages, Pro Pages and Corporate Pages. Then configure Corporate settings, activate the Corp Licence page, create a corporate account, add a manager and test the manager dashboard.
Why should I save permalinks after setup?Saving permalinks refreshes WordPress URL rules. It can prevent course, module, lesson, preview or shortcode pages from returning 404 errors after setup changes.
What is the safest way to test a new installation?Start small. Create one test course, one module, one lesson, one quiz and one learner. Enrol the learner manually, log in as that learner, complete the lesson and confirm dashboard, progress and quiz behaviour. Then test Pro or Corporate features one at a time.
Can I use Elementor or another page builder?Yes. You can design the surrounding pages with a page builder. Do not remove the plugin output or shortcode area needed for dashboards, checkout, course pages, learner records, assessments or other LMS functions.
Why has the plugin created pages? The LMS uses shortcode pages for learner dashboards, login, course access, checkout, evidence, certificates and other front-end features. Setup screens help create the required pages and avoid missing-page problems.
Licensing, Updates And Data
Where do I activate a Pro licence?Use the Pro Licence page in the Pro admin menu. Enter the licence key, activate it, and check the displayed status, domain and enabled features.
Where do I activate a Corporate licence?Use the Corp Licence page in the Corporate admin menu. It exists separately so Corporate users do not have to look inside the Pro menu to manage the Corporate add-on.
Does the licence server host my course or learner data? No. Your courses, learners, progress, certificates, orders, invoices, evidence, assessments and settings remain on your WordPress website. The licence system controls access to paid plugin features and updates.
Does the plugin check the licence server on every page load? No. Licence checks are cached. Checks normally happen during activation, manual refresh, scheduled validation or when stored licence data needs updating.
What happens if the licence server is temporarily unavailable?Valid installations are designed to avoid breaking immediately during a short licence-server outage. Cached licence data and grace-period behaviour help keep legitimate sites working while the issue is resolved.
Will my courses or learner records be deleted if a licence expires? No. Licence status controls access to paid features. It should not delete courses, learners, progress records, orders, invoices, certificates, settings, submissions or training history.
Should I back up before updating?Yes. Any live WordPress training site should have a reliable backup before plugin updates, especially if it contains learners, payments, certificates, evidence, assessments or corporate records.
Troubleshooting
A learner cannot access a course. What should I check?Check that the learner account exists, the learner is logged in, the course is published, and the learner has access to the correct course. Then check payment status, manual enrolment, corporate seat assignment, prerequisites, drip rules, release dates and quiz enforcement.
A lesson is locked. What should I check?Check whether the lesson has a prerequisite, release date, previous lesson rule, previous module rule, manual release rule, required quiz pass, course access rule or corporate assignment rule.
A quiz is not blocking progress. What should I check?Check that Pro is active, quiz enforcement is enabled, the quiz is attached to the correct lesson, the pass mark is configured, and the course progression rules require a pass before continuing.
An assessment is waiting for marking. What should I check?Written answers and manually marked work may need tutor review. Check the tutor marking queue, tutor assignment, SLA dashboard and submission status.
A certificate has not been issued. What should I check?Check that Pro is active, certificates are enabled, a certificate template exists, the learner has completed the required course rules, and any required quiz, assessment, final exam, evidence review or manager approval has been completed.
Checkout is not working. What should I check?Check that Pro is active, the licence is valid, payments are enabled, the course has a price, the checkout page exists, payment settings are complete, and the payment gateway is in the correct live or test mode.
A shortcode page is blank. What should I check?Check that the page exists, is published, contains the correct shortcode, and has not had the shortcode removed by a page-builder edit. Also save WordPress permalinks and confirm the learner has permission to view the content.
A shortcode is showing as plain text. What should I check?Check that the shortcode is typed correctly and placed in a WordPress content area or shortcode widget that processes shortcodes. Some HTML-only widgets display shortcodes as text instead of running them.
The Pro plugin keeps saying an update is available. What should I check?Check that the installed plugin version, internal version constant and uploaded package version match. If the update notice repeats after updating, the site may still be seeing an older package or cached update response.
Corporate managers can see too much or too little. What should I check?Check the manager permission level, company scope, department scope, team scope, certificate visibility, evidence visibility, assessment-history visibility and export permission settings.
